L-Art Gallery brings the new exhibition on 16th May: “Abstract 01 555543211231357 01”with the new creation of artists Chen Yufan, Chi Qun, Dong Dawei and Qian Jiahua. This is first exhibition of abstract series in L-Art Gallery, and we will do further research and creation of abstract issue with solo exhibition and group exhibition.
Chen Yufan has created a group of puzzling “paintings” in a unique way which developing on the basis of all sorts of regular, natural, sparsely or densely hanging, crisscrossing and overlapping abstract stripes and a very strange pattern. Showing an air-dry mirror image, a frozen light shadow and an idiosyncratic world without the breath and temperature of human. Chi Qun has been trying different ways, including texturing method, polishing, marking and exploring on the application of color and space, to excavate the limitless possibility from the finiteness of “line” and express different living statuses in different periods of time, in the hope that it becomes a process of sincerely expressing herself. Her artworks have regular and warm lines form rigorous and neat color planes with appropriate thickness. The occlusion, confrontation, compression and collision of different planes make their borderlines appear so cold, beautiful, sensitive and vacant. Dong Dawei created from the angle of material and the process of painting, which contemplates on the history of the form of painting. The painting is not only presented as the result of painting, but also as its own process. The tool and the carrier of painting are also the theme of painting, which is a painting about painting. It considers the material nature of painting and the relationship between tool and its carrier-the precondition of all relations of painting. Qian Jiahua tries to advance this connection through the transformation of form and content, in the attempt to present the deviation between the process of creation and that of viewing. The audience is accustomed to finding some proofs based on their experience and using them as tenable clue for the object. Thus several correlatives are yielded and together with the works, they become the audience’s “illusion”, which makes the “loop” full. Therefore, each and every tiny difference and change become extremely important. As the artist spares no effort to control them, the audience’s “illusion” is also provided with an uncontrollable free space.
