On 28th February, Christie’s auction house opened its first Asian gallery. The James Christie Room has 250+ square metres of viewing space, and will host to curated exhibitions, charity events, art forums, and sales and auctions.
After many years bound up in red tape Christie’s will be the first foreign auction house to be licensed to operate in China without a Mainland partner.
Francois Curiel, Christie's Asia president on strong Asia growth: "in the first half of this year there was a 31% increase in Asian clients registering to bid on our sales in London and New York."
