After searching every last corner and closet in Shanghai, BANK is proud to have found an exciting new venue at 298 Anfu Lu.
While we are still a bit heartbroken by the unexpected eviction from our original space, BANK’s move announces a bold new beginning with an improved, mature, but still subversive space and agenda. On the Bund our character was defined, in part by the charm of our building’s setting, here on Anfu Lu- the heart of Shanghai bourgeoisie culture- we are literally underground in an industrial basement space that went unused for many years. The space isn’t only infinitely more convenient; it also has drama, history and a certain sex appeal that we hope you will appreciate.
Our upcoming program includes a Shanghai debut by the NYC-based post-internet painter, Austin Lee and solo exhibitions by Lin Ke, Chen Yujun, and Patty Chang. As we rush to open on time for the momentous Shanghai Art Fair and Biennial week in early November we welcome your continued support, love and attention!
