【About the Workshop】
McaM Invites performance artist Luo Yueing to give a workshop of choreography. The workshop will focus on the genesis and articulation of performative images concerning body and found objects. If you are interested in dance, theater or visual arts, this workshop will be very resourceful for your creative practice.

A small part of the workshop will be dedicated to the introduction of Luo’s body training system ‘rhizome motif’. This system engages the body to multi-layered but micro-scale dynamical commitments, which will together foster an elastic sensitivity and a split mode of attention. The purpose is to find an immanent bodily expression unbound from movement patterns a body is socially installed with.

Then the artist will share extensively her artistic vision on performance and image production, with the aid of many found industrial objects. Luo will lead the participants into a journey exploring the formal and dynamic potentials of these objects. Once freed from functionality, these very daily objects can become great creative partners. The workshop is a proposition to see ordinary objects not as tools, but as creative partners. It provides an alternative way of seeing objects, and of seeing the relationships the body can have with the material world.

【About the Artist】
Luo Yuebing is performance artist using dance and moving images as key medium. Her artistic interests focus on choreographic practice involved with the relation of the body to images. Her works draw their strength from the tension revealed through expressive image (which are taken as process rather than fixed visual entity) where human subject is in contact with inanimate beings, with built environments or with patterned activities.
Luo’s works have been presented extensively in China in theaters, festivals, museums and public-spaces. In resent years, her individual and collaborative works have been presented internationally in venues and festivals such as (among others) Maison de la Danse (Lyon), Zawirowania Dance Theater Festival (Warsaw), Hellerau European Center of the Arts (Dresden), Seoul Art Center, Yokohama Dance Collection, Mousonturm (Frankfurt a. M.), Uferstudios (Berlin), Muffathalle (Munich). Her visual and trans-media works has been presented in Gallery Patrick Ebensberger in Berlin, Cologne Academy of Media Art (KHM), Festival Videonale in Boon, etc.
