“After six successful years in Hong Kong and with our growing Beijing gallery, we’ve been prompted to expand,” said gallery founder Pascal de Sarthe. “With over 26 galleries and other art institutions in Wong Chuk Hang, we have chosen to embrace the energy of the area and open a gallery space that is unrivalled in Hong Kong. It will allow us to properly honor masterpiece art works as well as expand our Hong Kong program to show an international roster of contemporary artists.”

The exhibition space features 4.5 meter (14 feet 9 inches) ceilings, concrete floors and incorporates breathtaking views of Hong Kong’s lush natural landscape. The remainder of the gallery is comprised of private viewing rooms, offices and a dining room. Construction has begun and is expected to be completed by the end of this year. In the meantime, the Hong Kong gallery will continue to operate in its current location on the 8/F Club Lusitano Building on 16 Ice House Street in Central, Hong Kong.

First established in Paris in 1977, de Sarthe Gallery has continuously pioneered the promotion of a diverse roster of international modern masters and emerging contemporary artists. In 2002, the gallery owners worked closely with Chinese public institutions and organized the Robert Indiana retrospective exhibition at the Shanghai Art Museum.
