Guggenheim Announces Chinese Artist Commissions for 2016

[press release]

During Art Basel week in Hong Kong, the Guggenheim announced the artists from Greater China whom it has commissioned to make new works for its collection and for the Fall 2016 exhibition in New York.

A group exhibition opening on November 4, 2016 – the second installment of The Robert H. N. Ho Family Foundation supported series after Wang Jianwei‘s solo show “Time Temple” in 2014 – will feature new site-specific works by Chia-En Jao, Kan Xuan, Sun Xun, Sun Yuan & Peng Yu, Tsang Kin-Wah, Yangjiang Group, and Zhou Tao. The works will enter the Guggenheim collection as part of The Robert H. N. Ho Family Foundation Chinese Art Initiative, inaugurated in 2013.

The exhibition is being organized by Hou Hanru, Consulting Curator, The Robert H. N. Ho Family Foundation Chinese Art Initiative, and Xiaoyu Weng, The Robert H. N. Ho Family Foundation Associate Curator of Chinese Art, both of whom joined the museum in August 2015.
