Introduction

We are seeking to supplement the small team responsible for SCôP through the appointment of a Development Manager.

Reporting to the Directors, the successful applicant will be responsible for developing a sales and sponsorship strategy for the center, assisting the Director and working closely with the exhibition team. The SCôP Development Manager will also work closely on VIP Relations and Communications. Candidates will need a solid understanding of the international photography and art market. The successful candidate will be ambitious and enthusiastic, a diplomatic professional with a demonstrative track record of project management and of delivering complex projects to deadlines and on budget. Managerial experience gained working in a gallery, auction house or art fair will be important.

The post holder will be expected to work in a flexible and pro-active manner as part of a small team of highly committed professionals.

General Responsibilities

- Developing a business plan and funding strategy for SCôP, as a non-for-profit arts organization that has to maintain a high level international exhibition programme; that will balance this with the support of a print sales division that must complement and support programme activities

- Maintaining a high level of organisation in order to manage the demand of incoming information and requests concerning projects, sponors, and sales.

- Able to set up and manage the admin processes for dealing with requests and enquiries

- Able to work effectively with external suppliers of prints as well as external sales outlets

- Able to delegate and manage junior staff

- Developing and reviewing development strategy on a regular basis and report findings to the Directors

- Effectively and accurately communicating relevant sales information to the Directors.

- Keeping abreast of progress and quality of works (prints) being provided by suppliers.

- Maintaining clear correspondence with partners and suppliers to assure timely and efficient progress of all tasks.

- Ensuring all invoices are passed to the finance team.

- Maintaining an excellent working knowledge of key industry moments and events.

- Maintaining an excellent working knowledge of photography and the photography market and reporting key information to the rest of the team.

Qualifications

Essential

- Educated to undergraduate degree level or relevant level of experience within the workplace

- Exceptional written and verbal communication skills

Desirable

- Demonstrable experience in the field of photography (and the arts generally)

- Educated to postgraduate degree level

Experience

Essential

- Minimum of 3 year Managerial experience gained working in a gallery, auction house or art fair

- Demonstrative track record of project management and of delivering complex projects to deadlines and on budget

- Experience of working on complex projects

- Experience of research and report writing

- Experience of website maintenance

- Experience of working with galleries

- Experience of working in partnership with external agencies

- One to two years of experience in an administrative support role and/or projects-related role

- Familiarity with project management software, such as Smartsheet

- Technically competent with various software programs, such as Word, Excel, PowerPoint etc. Experience at working both independently and in a team-oriented, collaborative environment

- Can conform to shifting priorities, demands and timelines
