This morning, at the combined opening of the Rubell Contemporary Arts Foundation’s 20th anniversary show and six commissioned solo exhibitions (artists: Will Boone, Aaron Curry, Lucy Dodd, Mark Flood, David Ostrowski, and Kaari Upson) was accompanied also by a performance by avid founders Don and Mera Rubell in celebration of their 50th wedding anniversary. 50 black-clad men and women, with the Rubells at the head, were seated at long tables outside. Before each person was a white cake, mouthfulls of which were fed to visitors filtering through from the galleries.
