Openings at UCCA: Duchamp, MAP Office and Multitude Art Prize

Saturday evening saw the openings of three major exhibitions at UCCA in 798: “Duchamp and/or/in China” — a show of the infamous artist’s work plus works by selected Chinese artists who cite his influence on their practice (curators: Francis Naumann and John Tancock); second, “The Oven of Straw” — a work by MAP Office (HK), winners of this year’s Sovereign Art Prize. And third, the first installment of the Multitude Art Prize — a new prize for Asia (directed and curated by Colin Chinnery), of which the first winners are Yao Jui-chung (Taiwan), Alfredo and Isabel Aquilizan (Philippines), Moon Kyungwon & Jeon Joonho (Korea), Raqs Media Collective (India) and Ha Za Vu Zu (Turkey).
