Bridegroom XU：F**K
55 is pleased to announce that Bridegroom Xu, a Beijing-based young artist, will present his major works since 2009 in his debut solo show entitled “F**K”.
Bridegroom Xu’s paintings are mostly associated with sex, revolt, foresight, conjecture, destruction, reconstruction. In XU’s consciousness, the absurd banter and order have enough impact to allow him to complete a painting. He uses this method – symbol or descriptions of events as icon of problem – to digest some other things. In most of his works, XU deliberately avoided the subject matter. His tactics are rough, so that the viewer’s attention could be directed to his expression.
Bridegroom Xu was born in China in 1986. He graduated from Yunnan Academy of Art in Kunming with a B.A. in 2008. In 2010, he participated in John Moores Painting Prize (Shanghai) and won a nomination.
