Giovanni Ozzola: Soul and Metal

313 ART PROJECT will host Giovanni Ozzola’s first-time solo exhibition in Korea, entitled Soul and Metal, from November 18 through December 20, 2015.

Giovanni Ozzola (b. 1982, Italy) is an emerging contemporary artist who works based on the interest on three dimensional space and light. He expresses the mental imagery created from the quintessence of subjects throughout various mediums extending from photography, video and installation. He has been actively working in the international art scene; he has exhibited worldwide, particularly in Mori Art Museum, Tokyo, Chelsea Art Museum, New York, Tate Modern, London, and also in major museums and galleries in Europe. His works are collected by MART – Museum of Modern and Contemporary Art of Torento and Rovereto, Italy, Guangdong Museum of Art, China, etc.

In this exhibition, the artist contrasts two different nature, SOUL and METAL, and focuses on the existence of invisible energy produced from their relationship. Such contradiction within nature’s order, represented as a dichotomy of abstract and concrete, infinite and finite, warm and cold, signifies another shade of meaning: harmony and equilibrium. Ozzola, visualizing the universe of diverse narratives surrounding humanity through the subliminal images, features total of 21 artworks including aluminium works with engraved copper, sculptures of collected propellers with etched drawings, as well as myriads of photography capturing the double-sidedness of the status quo.
