Frank Tang (b. 1988, Hong Kong) received Bachelor of Visual Arts (Hons) from Hong Kong Baptist University. He likes to put mixed media materials together with paintings of sketches, combining sceneries, addresses, codes and words etc. in the painting, to record the change of city and lives of this generation. Facing the powerlessness and restrains in the city, Frank Tang is more willing to find traces of nature and to feel the freedom of the nature.

Tang Jie (b. 1989, Yueyang, Hunan Province) is now a postgraduate student of sculpture major in Luxun Academy of Fine Arts. His installation works adopt natural materials as the main components, exploring relationships between man and objects, man and the society, and objects and the world. Combining technology and Chinese philosophy, his works use interactions between man and his works, presenting viewers the witty remark of the eastern philosophy of Zen.

Based on their living environments, their creation and ways of thinking have their own characteristics. Frank Tang, living in a dynamic city, pursues a pure land of freedom; Tang Jie, travelling between the cities, reminds him of the natural environment of his hometown. Art creation has become their tool to travel between dream and reality. It reflects the reality from the bad dreams and meditates on the pure land. In this exhibition we hope to invite viewers to feel day and night, dream and reality, themselves and the world, in the “Soliloquy in Dream” of artists.
