Li Binyuan
Breaking Point
Rén Space
[Press Release]

Rén Space is thrilled to announce the opening of Li Binyuan’s first Solo Exhibition in Shanghai,Breaking Point, on September 18, 2019 which runs until October 26, 2019.

Known for his unorthodox and highly personal performances, Li Binyuan interrupts, stimulates andchallenges the constraints of modern urban life through multitudes of expressions in combination ofvideo, performance, photographs, and sculptural works. Breaking Point premieres Li Binyuan’srecent works exploring this specific moment in time where the artist captures the fleeting nature ofwhat we often view as permanency. Using both himself and his greater surroundings, distance, time, boundaries, people, and the shapes of expression are sculpted and willed into various forms throughparticular actions of the artist. His singular focus is on the point of time of no return whenpermanency dissipates along with uncertainty of unknown and of what is to come at a “BreakingPoint.”

Li Binyuan was born in Yongzhou, Hunan Province, China in 1985, and graduated from theDepartment of Sculpture, Central Academy of Fine Arts in 2011.
