[Press Release]

Opening:14:00 – 17:00,21 June 2014

Dates:17 – 22 June, 2014

For the 2nd project at yellow.ant.art.lab in 2014, Weiwei LIU will present his art project entitled “Lost Comrad”.

Officer Wang from Jiulongpo police station in Chongqing investigated Weiwei LIU’s art project “I’m not working today” in 2013. He showed some interest in contemporary art during the repeated process and wanted to learn more about art. So Weiwei LIU decided to let him involve by sending him to Shanghai to complete this art project at the exhibiting space. The funds for sponsoring Officer Wang’s Shanghai trip was from those detention criminals Weiwei LIU interviewed and filmed for his projects from the second half of 2013 to early 2014.

Weiwei LIU was born in China in 1988. His recent major exhibitions include: “Experience of Nervousness” (2014); “The Scene of Discomfort” (2014)”; “The 14th OPEN performance Art Festival” (2013); “I’m not working today” (2013); “Daily Translation” (2012); “At Ease” (2012); and “Simulated Scenery” (2012) .

yellow.ants.art.lab is an independent project launched in March 2013. It encourages young artists’ experimental art practices. In 2014, projects which have no references to art history will be presented, continuing to question / critise art itself, challenging art boundaries.
