By the end of 2015, as leaving the space in Caochangdi Art District East which has accompanied the ten years’ growth of Platform China Contemporary Art Institute, we have completed the relocation of our new space in 798 Art District and will pick an auspicious date to hang out the shingle. Meanwhile, we will officially open the first exhibition celebration Relocation Jubilee in the new space on December 27, 2015, to celebrate the housewarming of Platform China, and thus regarding this as an opportunity to start our new journey. This relocation marks a new stage for Platform China. Here by we would like to sincerely thank the artists who make progress together with us in the past ten years, as well as the collectors, curators, media, and all the domestic and international colleagues in the art field who have supported and helped us.
Platform China Contemporary Art Institute was established in early 2005, in ten years’ progress of growing up, we have actively participated in the development of Chinese contemporary art, and involved in the process of the development of Chinese contemporary art as a witness. Through unremitting efforts and persistent pursuit, Platform China has launched more than 130 exhibitions and independent art projects in the past ten years, put more than 150 artists’ works on display, and published a series of individual albums and exhibition related catalogues and books. Since its establishment, Platform China has been based on focusing and supporting young artists. Many outstanding artists who are currently dynamic have co-operation with Platform China in the early stage of their development. At the same time, we have launched and participated in many important exhibitions and art fairs in China and overseas, as well as art residency projects in cooperation with international art institutions,continuously promoting domestic and international dialogues and communication about contemporary art.
The new space of Platform China is located in the heart of 798 Art District, with a total area of more than 700 square meters, it is divided into exhibition hall and seminar room. The exhibition space is open and tall, suitable for exhibiting works with various media. In addition, there is also a space for show-window project, seeking to erratically organize specific on-site installations and art programs by crossover cooperation and experimental and exploring mode of language, to show more cutting-edge and experimental art.
Tomorrow is a whole new start. The future will be both a new challenge and an opportunity for us. Externally, we will continue to promote outstanding artists as a participant and present works and exhibitions with high quality. Meanwhile, as a platform and observer, we will pay more attention to the internal reflection of each individual artist and focus on the process and thinking behind the production of art, and try to analyze and display these processes, to make a more primitive discussion about the nature of culture.
