55 is delighted to announce that Su Xiangpan’s debut show entitled “Slow Impulses” will be held at 55 in Shanghai from Sept. 6 through Oct. 12 this year.

Su Xiangpan’s creation has no clear concept to express from the beginning to the end. When he finds some things or feelings within his recent creation context or way of thinking, he will try to take it into his own artistic atmosphere.

There is no sufficient reason or content in many of the works by Su Xiangpan. Like reading a book, between chapters, one will stretch a little or pause to take a sip of tea. This seemingly detached moment is treated on the same level in Su Xiangpan’s creation process. They become part of the whole. The implicit, fuzzy and tangled context in Su Xiangpan’s works are like constant knot making without knowing when to undo them. These knots, not so neat perhaps, are always connected never-the-less.

Su Xiangpan was born in China in 1984. He obtained his B.A. & M.A. in Mural Painting from China Academy of Art in 2010 and 2014.
