The Cat That Eats Diodes

Curation: Loo Ching Ling
Art Direction: Thomas Charvériat

[Press Release]

Calling all colourful creatures and exotic beasts roaming the neon jungles of Hong Kong! You are hereby cordially invited to Liu Dao’s latest exhibition, The Cat That Eats Diodes. Celebrating our 2nd exhibition in the newly-opened island6 Hong Kong, the opening will kick off on Saturday, 10th November, from 5-8pm. The animal-themed show migrates to Hong Kong after opening at its big sister space in Shanghai.

After a near half decade of exhibitions breathing electronic life into creations of myriad forms, Liu Dao turns and explores the softer side of technology and digitization through nature and animal themes. The Cat that Eats Diodes celebrates Liu Dao’s six-year love affair with all that resonate with electricity and life. From animated goldfish to lasercut trees, the story of our world is retold in Technicolour glory through LED, video, photography and contemporary sculpture. Re-appropriating iconic scenes from Shanghai and Hong Kong, Liu Dao brings together the essence of two metropolises that are impelled by technology, but inspired by life.
