Gallery 55 is please to announce that Yang Tao’s solo show “I won’t tell you anything before the problem arises” will be open on the 30th of June 2018. Fifteen pieces of oil works on canvas of various sizes created between 2015 and 2018 will be on display till the 29th of July. This is Yang Tao’s first solo exhibition at Gallery 55.
Yang Tao’s paintings are images of political consciousness. Although these paintings involve dignified topics such as power system, cultural conflict, the evil of human nature, they are always permeated with joy and absurdity. These daily “Ukiyoe” provide a series of different footnotes to re-understand contemporary day-to-day China. They provide viewers with an alternative sense of pleasure intellectually and aesthetically.
Yang Tao was born in China in 1975. Currently, he lives and works in Hubei Province, China.
