L-Art Gallery is proud to present “Zhang Ya: Impression,” thefirst exhibition of the year, on March 12th. The exhibition attempts to tracethe changes in Zhang Ya’s art practices over the past three years through herworks in four different series: “A Strange Utopia,” “Impression,” “Remember andRecord,” and “Sunday.” At her first exhibition, the artist employed geometricalfigures to represent traditional garden landscape and her imagining of a secretutopia, while she extracted these geometrical shapes and laid them over receiptsand newspapers at her second exhibition. The metamorphosis of her artistic languagediscloses a concurrent conceptual transition, but what remains untouchedthroughout the years is her exploration and persistent inquiries into space andthe everyday experience of the urban condition.
