张恩利：“四季”

每每听说张恩利有新个展，都很期待。他是个清心寡欲的人，尽管他在上海的工作室冬凉夏暖，他仍着迷于经典摩托车的收藏，并伺候着家里的好几部宝贝车。作为一名艺术家，他笔下的绘画语言独特、简练、醇熟，所画之物大多来自他对周遭环境的仔细观察：从使用浴室、水桶、篮球到凝视树枝与天空。深受中国传统熏陶与西方古典艺术熏染，张恩利的画法与其背后的历史观均受制于一种诗意的简约与矜持。在我看来，Michael Fried的辞典中有“物性”（objecthood）与“吸收”（absorption）二词可适用于张恩利的作品。继波洛克与极简主义之后，一幅画自身的存在意义在于通过对其观看与沉思而达成的某种参与和沟通，而非单纯的装饰性的“剧场”陈列。张恩利总是刻意让打草稿的框线痕迹可见，从不刻意抹去或覆盖它们。作品背后的哲学来自这样一个等式：个人的绘画行为等同于个人的观察哲学。他并非透过绘画来自我定义，而是透过观察与绘画的行为来自我定义。这里没有虚伪，有的只是对沉思的执着与关注地记录。
