Entries open for the 9th Arte Laguna Prize

Painting, sculpture, photographic art, video art and performance, virtual and digital art, Environmental and Land Art

The new edition of Arte Laguna Prize is now open for the year 2014, the international contest exhibiting the finalists’ works in the prestigious venue of the Arsenal of Venice.

Painting, sculpture, photographic art, video art and performance, virtual and digital art are the five categories the artists can enter, both online and by mail.

Environmental and Land Art – conceived and created with Thetis SpA – New projects for environmental and land art works, in which the art intervention interacts with the environment it was designed for.

The artists can apply by:

6th November 2014 Extended deadline: 4th December 2014

15 October 2014 to participate also in the Business for Art prizes

The international jury selecting the finalists is chaired by Igor Zanti and comprises:

Simone Frangi (Italy/France, Artistic Director of Viafarini DOCVA and Professor at Ecole Supérieure d’Art et de Design de Grenoble-Valence)

Franck Gautherot (France, Co-Director at Le Consortium, Contemporary Art Center in Dijon)

Chus Martinez (Spain, Head of the Art Institute FHNW in Basel, Switzerland)

Bartolomeo Pietromarchi (Italy, Director at Fondazione Antonio Ratti in Como)

Domenico Quaranta (Italy, Critic and Curator)

Veeranganakumari Solanki (India, Independent Curator and Art writer)

Philippe van Cauteren (Belgium, Artistic Director at S.M.A.K Museum in Ghent)

Jonathan Watkins (Great Britain, Director at Ikon Gallery)

Roberto Zancan (Italy, Head curator of Inside the Academy Program of the BE OPEN Foundation)

Claudio Bertorelli (Italy, Environmental designer and director of Fabbri Foundation )

THE PRIZES

5 CASH PRIZES of 7,000 Euros for the winner of each category

BUSINESS FOR ART (*to participate you have to apply with at least two works by October 15)

New entries in the collaborations with companies: 3 artists will be selected to collaborate with 3 leaders of Made in Italy in the fields of design, fashion and wine:

—Pas de Rouge, 10,000 Euros, project for the world of footwear;

—La Tordera, 5,000 Euros, creation of an artistic label;

—Riva1920, creation of a design object in wood.

ARTIST IN RESIDENCE:

Artistic Serigraphy Fallani – Venice, Artistic Foundry Battaglia – Milan, Glass

School Abate Zanetti – Venice, Art Stays – Slovenia

New: Basu Foundation for the Arts – Kolkata

Art Residency in Kolkata for 1 month for 1 artist + final exhibition

The residency includes: board and lodging, studio, curatorial assistance on site, introduction into the local cultural scene, a grant for the creation of the work (to be agreed).

One of the works will remain the property of Basu Foundation for the Arts.

ARTIST IN GALLERY

Every gallery will select an artist for a personal exhibition including setting-up, opening, transportation expenses, dedicated catalogue published by ODE: Charlot Gallery, France; Fernando Santos Gallery, Portugal; Isabelle Lesmeister Gallery, Germany; Exhibit320, India
