Luxelakes·A4 Art Museum (Former A4 Arts Center) was established by Chengdu Wide Horizon Investment Group Co., Ltd. in March of 2008. Under the leadership of Ms. Sun Li, A4 Arts Center has been through 8 years. During 8 years, it held 37 contemporary arts exhibitions; more than 500 lectures, salons and workshops, cooperated with 257 well-known artists all over the world and more than 30 professional curators. Luxelakes·A4 Art Museum relocated in Luxelakes Eco-CITY from August of 2016, and registered formally as Nongovernmental Non-profit Museum. The new museum will open to public through its inaugural exhibition “Create Spaces” in 15th of April, 2017.
Luxulakes·A4 Art Museum is located at the entrance of Luxelakes ECO-City, which at the South-Extension of Tianfu Avenue. The museum is designed by American famous architect, Antoine Predock. It adjacent to the lake, integrates with surrounding where full of red sandstones, meanwhile stands out from the horizon and becomes a unique scenery. Through 8 years practical experiences and academic thinking, Luxelakes·A4 Art museum keeps focusing and propelling the development of talented artists and avant-garde art. The museum, with the cognition and thinking as an non-profit art museum, holds the A4’s spirit and acts as the city participant, cultural life constructor and operator, wish to bring more international, professional and diversified arts to Chengdu.
Lukelakes·A4 Art Museum based in Chengdu, where develops in a high-speed modernization and with strongly inclusiveness to everyone. This city has a long history in culture and arts, plenty of artists live here. Chengdu needs more arts institution equip themselves with international view and the ability which could promote the diversified development of local contemporary art. Luxelakes·A4 Art Museum keeps exploring the way how to connect international art with local artistic practice. How to bring cutting-edge contemporary art to Chengdu and then make it effect on and combine with local art is the mission A4 Art Museum strive for. In the meantime, the government policy which devotes to promote the development of cultural and technology in Tianfu New Area offers the museum a good condition to develop in the future. Luxelakes·A4 Museum in the core area of Tianfu New Area, which means convenient transportation, surrounds by communities, schools and companies. Due to this background, Luxelakes·A4 Art Museum must not only promote the development of contemporary art, but also the interactive communication between public and art. It needs increasing input on public education, which will turn A4 Art Museum into a museum where will be more public-interactive.
Luxelakes·A4 Art Museum covers 3500m2 in total. Including a three-floor exhibition space designed by DisignARC which covers 1500m2; a 500m2Children Art Center next to the exhibition space where reading area、climbing area, box-like workshop、displaying space and performing area are set. Beyond that, there are public library、academic lecture hall, multi-function performing hall、artistic-residency workshop、art store and café in A4 Art Museum, which cover 1500m2. A4’s team operate not only museum and Children Art Center, but also Luxelakes ECO Art Center. It takes 3 years to prepare this art center which covers 620㎡. ECO Art Center displays permanently the water-themed exhibition by using the art and technology to the public.
Luxelakes·A4 Art Museum keeps attention on the development of cutting-edge contemporary art both domestic and foreign, devotes to propel the academic research and field experiment of new media art in China. The museum increases the international arts and culture communication, through the diversified public educational projects and activities, it strengthens the interaction and cooperation with communities and the city. Luxelakes·A4 Art Museum hopes that by establishing the systematic academic and education structure, exploring the vary public education projects, to build an important platform for contemporary art which would promote talented artists and arts, activate constantly the development of local art, then plays a positive role as a museum.
