Opens 21 March 2016 with Yan Pei-Ming Solo Exhibition

(Hong Kong, 15 February 2016) Massimo De Carlo gallery opens its first Asian space in Hong Kong’s Pedder Building this Art Week showing a commitment to the region. This is the third venue, after Milan in 1987 and London in 2009, celebrating almost 30 years of being a crucial player in the international art scene.

Massimo De Carlo gallery focuses on creating a dialogue between globally acknowledged contemporary artists, young and promising talents and more classical masters from the 50s and the 60s. The gallery actively promotes artists that play an important role in the international artistic scenery and works on establishing a vital dialogue between the artists and international institutions, encouraging relationships between galleries, critics, curators, and collectors. Remarkable exhibitions by represented artists over the years include shows by Yan Pei-Ming, Liu Xiaodong, Rudolf Stingel, Nate Lowman as well as post-war Italian artists such as Lucio Fontana, Enrico Castellani and Piero Manzoni among others.

“After years of working within Asia, both in Mainland China and Hong Kong, we are thrilled to start this new chapter and delighted to play a larger role in the development of the region’s contemporary cultural landscape,” says Massimo De Carlo, Owner of the gallery with an on-going role on the selection committee board of Art Basel Hong Kong.

Set to open its doors on 21 March 2016, the Hong Kong gallery launches with a solo exhibition featuring works by Yan Pei-Ming, a classic painter with an international background. A patron of the gallery, Pei-Ming has been partnering with Massimo De Carlo since 1998 and has exhibited at both the Milan and London galleries.

“It is fitting to have one of our dear friends and respected painters to be part of this crucial step of our journey. We are excited to launch his new series of works entitled ‘It Takes a Lifetime to Become Young’ which is an ode to the history of painting,” comments Massimo De Carlo.
