The ARRÊT SUR IMAGES auction

[Press Release]

The ARRÊT SUR IMAGES auction is a charity auction (exhibition 3-7 December 2016 in Paris,www.auctioneve.com)) to support a Chinese contemporary artist prize and residency.

EVE AUCTIONS (www.auctioneve.com) and the FDCA (The Foundation for the Development of Contemporary Art) are organizing together the auction of an important collection of contemporary photographs from the 90s and 2000s generation of Chinese artists such as Cang Xin, Rong Rong, Dai Guangyu, Zhen Guogu, He Yunchang, He An, Hong Lei, Han Bing, etc…from the collection of the late Bertrand Cheuvreux, a passionate art collector and founder of a Spanish gallery devoted to Chinese contemporary art. Bertrand Cheuvreux invited performance artists from the East Village to Spain to imagine groundbreaking performances such as “Casting” by He Yunchang or “Trampling Faces” by Cang Xin.

The interactive and printed catalogue will be available as of mid November.

The auction will take place in the heart of Paris, in a well-known historical monument on 7 December 2016 at the l’Hôtel de l’Industrie, 4, Place Saint-Germain-des-Prés, 75006. It also includes works by big naeme Chinese artists such as Zao Wouki, Mao Xuhui, Wang Guangyi and Wang Keping.

The goal of the FDCA Prize is to bridge the gap between East and West, bringing a Chinese artist to the Loire valley and allowing him/her to enter into a dialogue with the historical past and the present in Europe, as well as bringing his/her unique vision to bear upon the French reality.
