A4 Contemporary Arts Center sincerely invites you to attend the opening party of Wild Flower Field by Maruyama Junko on May 30, 2014 (Fri.) at 15:00. We will be hosting a resident artists’ talk by Maruyama Junko at the same time. As the important part of Artist in residence international exchange program in 2014 (spring), Maruyama Junko will share some of their artworks and working and life record with everybody.

About artist: Maruyama Junko

She was born in 1976 in Yamanashi, Japan, graduated from University of Ritsumeikan, department of International Relations in 1999 and attained the BFA degree from City University of New York in 2002. From her early works which she used plastic bags from supermarkets to create “Silent flower field”, Junko Maruyama always uses discarded items as objects, recovers and changes them, and presents the different state and change process of them in the end. Recently, she uses waste oil and water to create a soap powder as creation material and draws patterns in various possible places. She held solo exhibitions in Yokohama, Taipei, London and other places and won 2009 Asahi Shimbun Cultural Foundation, Taipei city – Yokohama city artist Exchange program Judge special prize and many other awards.
