Anton Subiyanto: Morning & Happiness

Within the works featured in Anton Subiyanto’s first solo exhibition with TAKSU, he reflects upon his drawings the sentiments that come with notions of euphoria in the morning. To Anton, the birth of a new day is about happiness and a sense of identity, which he derives from the symbolism of an ancient Egyptian god, Horus. Its depiction is one of a falcon-headed man who  is represented as a spiritual guide to one’s soul through everyday life.

By extension of that belief, Anton interlaces the fond memories and imagination of his past, present and future. Parallel to the enlightenment of his mornings, he presents them in the language of drawing, with rhythmic free narratives in the absence of boundaries.

ANTON SUBIYANTO (b.1980, Indonesia), graduated from Indonesian Art Institute, majoring in Graphic Arts, also Open University Faculty of Communication. Anton has participated in various group exhibitions such as Indonesia, Malaysia and Australia since 2008. Apart from his group exhibition, Anton already held 2 solo exhibitions,  ‘Omnivora’, at Tirana Art Space in Yogyakarta, Indonesia and ‘My Bird and Secret Garden’ at Galeri Canna in Jakarta, Indonesia. Anton Subiyanto lives and works in Yogyakarta, Indonesia.
