Capsule Shanghai – Duan Yingmei: Mementos
[Press Release]

Capsule Shanghai is pleased to announce Mementos, a performance piece held by Duan Yingmei that will involve interaction between the artist, people and their objects. Owners of the objects will include Duan Yingmei, as well as people in different fields from around the world. A couple of months ago, Duan Yingmei came to Shanghai and met many people, whom she added as friends on WeChat. These people, as well as a number of Duan Yingmei’s old acquaintances, will be participating in the performance. The objects in the performance, whether they are old or new, are telling us their own different fairy tales, which are related to the past, present, and future lives of everyone involved, as well as the objects themselves. Duan Yingmei hopes that these objects can retain the memories of today’s fast-paced life, and by using them, she would like to create a three dimensional performative network that allows interaction between people and people, people and objects, objects and objects, objects and space, space and space, and outer space and inner space.
