For its first exhibition of 2013, Boers-Li Gallery will present the Tang Song solo exhibition Eulogy – In Memory of Hans van Dijk, an exploration of the unique and independent language of this artist on the margins of contemporary art. The “gunshot incident” that took place at the China/Avant-Garde exhibition at the National Art Museum of China in 1989, of which Tang Song was a participant, has been called the milestone of the transition of Chinese modern art from the 1980s to the 1990s. Tang has been creating art through all these intervening years, and this exhibition, Eulogy – In Memory of Hans van Dijk, is what he calls a “visual Chinese epic poem,” a memorial he has created to Hans van Dijk, who was a key driver of artistic exchange between China and the West. The exhibition brings together painting, installation and other art forms for a powerful fresentation of contemporary art.
