Gallery 55 is pleased to announce that artist Qian Lili’s first solo exhibition in Shanghai, “Folded Honey”, will be opened on the 9th of September through the 9th of October.

“Folded Honey” comprises 6 canvas works and 12 small paper works, created by the artist between 2007 and 2009, when she was doing her Master’s Degree at Sichuan Fine Art Institute in Chongqing. These works reflected Qian Lili’s psychological state, artistic thinking and living condition of that period, which also became the point of her creation later. These works read like a diary with random imagination, closely connecting with sub-consciousness, psychology and symbols. They are projections of emotion and desire.

Qian Lili was born in China in 1981. She graduated from the Department of Oil Painting, Sichuan Fine Art Institute in 2004, obtaining a Bachelor’s Degree. From 2006 to 2009, she studied at the Department of Oil Painting, Sichuan Fine Art Institute, and received a Master’s Degree. Currently, she works and lives in Beijing.
