Almine Rech Gallery is pleased to present the third exhibition by Jean-Baptiste Bernadet with the gallery, comprised of paintings from several new series by the artist.

Jean-Baptiste Bernadet delights in painting yet continuously endeavours to question the medium. “I feel good with painting. It’s the fastest way to express what I want to,” he explains. It’s also a way for him to suspend time, and to draw the viewer into what will always be an adventure. Whether he is working on large format, vividly colored canvases reminiscent of fireworks and peacock feathers, or directly painting the surface of apples made in resin, Jean-Baptiste Bernadet is above all questing after sensations, impressions, vibrations and ultimately, jubilation. And the sheer indeterminacy and openness that each work offers leaves us — and the artist — on the brink of a forever changing visual, memorial and intellectual experience.
