TAKSU Singapore is pleased to present Notes to Self, featuring mixed media works by 9 artists – Ade Putra Safar, Izziyana Suhaimi, Su-Jin Dorcas Ng, Simon Ng and Supersegak (Singapore), Ernest Concepcion (Philippines), Debra Raymond (Indonesia), Najib Ahmad Bamadhaj and Hisyamuddin Abdullah (Malaysia).
The exhibition explores the relationship between personal thought and finished product. Self-directed thoughts arising from conversation or activity often meant with humour, and not always directly related to the subject can provide insights in our understanding of an artwork. When these personal quips are revealed to the viewer, they serve to inject humour and truth to the intended context.
Visibly different in style and medium yet equally thought provoking, Notes to Self is a collection of both brooding and light hearted works giving voice to the conflicting thoughts of an artist as they make and create works of art.
