55 was established in 2005 and located in M50 in Shanghai. 55’s mission is to provide a platform for emerging artists to carry out experimental projects within a progressive curatorial framework. 55’s aims are to promote critical and engaging contemporary art practices and ideas through exhibitions & curitorial projects. “YELLOW.ANTS.ART.LAB” is an independent project and will be launched this March. It provides young artists an actual space for exercising their artistic context, in addition to possible international presentation..
For the first project, Li Binyuan, a Beijing based artist, will present his latest performance on video entitled “Spring in the Sewer”.
Li Binyuan was born in China in 1985. He graduated from Central Academy of Art in Beijing with a B.A. in sculpture in 2011. His recent exhibitions include: “Za Qi Za Ba” (Jinji Lake Art Museum, 2013); “Logic being discussed” (Organhaus, 2012); International Festival of Nature (Pusan, Korea, 2012); “That Girl” (Xi Wang Art Museum, 2012); Sub-Phenomena” (CAFAM Museum, 2012); “Re-presenting Reality” (5th Chendu Biennale, 2011).
