First portrait of the Prince of Wales by a Chinese Artist to be Auctioned this Month

A portrait of HRH the Prince of Wales by Chinese artist Yan Pei-Ming is to be auctioned at Sotheby’s in London on October 16 as part of Frieze art week in the UK capital. The painting is expected to raise an estimated £200,000-300,000 for charity at a Gala Evening and Auction. The money raised will be split between The Prince’s Drawing School and the Mimi Foundation, which was founded by influential collector Myriam Ullens (co-founder with her husband of the Ullens Centre for Contemporary Art in Beijing) in 2004. A total of 38 works will be offered at the auction, including those by Antony Gormley, Tracey Emin, Andreas Gursky and Sterling Ruby, and Chinese artists Liu Xiaodong, Yang Shaobin and Zhan Wang.
