The 8th Shanghai Biennale, curated by a curatorial team of Fan Di’an, Li Lei, and Gao Shiming, defines itself this year as a “rehearsal,” not only as a curating strategy but as a “full process of exhibition and creativity itself.” Through promoting interaction between artists, the Biennale attempts to raise questions about the power of the economic and political contexts of contemporary art, and to explore the dilemma of creativity.
