Returning to the Central Harbourfront 23-26 March 2016 [First Night 21 March, VIP Preview 22 March], Art Central builds upon the success of the inaugural Hong Kong event that attracted 30,000 visitors from the region and around the world. This year, Art Central will present over 100 galleries from 21 countries, with over 75% hailing from Asia.
Housed within the city’s largest ever, architect-designed temporary structure, the fair is set to raise the bar once again, with a strong line up of galleries and an ambitious program that champions both discovery and experimentation. TALKS X ASIA SOCIETY headlines the fair’s program with a series of talks and panel discussions to be held daily at the fair, once again curated by Asia Society Hong Kong Center. Fair Director Maree Di Pasquale says, ‘from must-see installations to performance and considered roundtable discussions, the program has been built with everyone from the art interested public to the seasoned international collector in mind’.
A highlight of the program is an intimate conversation with internationally renowned artist, dancer and choreographer Shen Wei and Alexandra Munroe, Curatorial Advisor for Shen Wei: Dance Strokes, a site-specific installation of paintings and performances that will be on view at Asia Society Hong Kong Center from March – April, 2016. The discussion takes place Friday 23 March from 3pm and is free for all Art Central ticket holders, however seats are limited. Click here to register.
Other highlights include a curated experimental film program by Hong Kong’s own Experimenta, as well as performance and roundtable discussions by non-profit organization, 4A Centre for Contemporary Asian Art (Sydney). Click here to view the full program.
