The British Council in Hong Kong is looking for a Head of Arts and Creative Industries to deliver an Arts and Creative Industries strategy for British Council Hong Kong that meets the needs of UK and Hong Kong stakeholders. This role will be working with key partners and organisations in Hong Kong to ensure that we remain relevant, innovative and secure high profile engagement to ensure our work supports the British Council’s cultural relations mission.

Hong Kong Operation
British Council Hong Kong is one of the biggest in the global network with thousands of adult and young learner students studying with us at any one time. We also have a large examinations operation facilitating the taking of UK examinations. In addition, we have enquiries on our educational and arts services as well. Our customers engage with us face-to-face, online, through email and via the phone.
The role
The British Council in Hong Kong is looking for a Head of Arts and Creative Industries to Deliver an Arts and Creative Industries strategy for British Council Hong Kong that meets the needs of UK and Hong Kong stakeholders. This role will be working with key partners and organisations in Hong Kong to ensure that we remain relevant, innovative and secure high profile engagement to ensure our work supports the British Council’s cultural relations mission.
Your duties will include but are not limited to:
Creating a sustainable Arts strategy for British Council Hong Kong, consistent with an agreed, comprehensive and singular arts vision for the organisation
Developing a funding model to underpin the strategy
Developing an effective partnership strategy for engagement in the Arts
Securing key Arts development/business partnerships
Identifying and managing key stakeholders with an interest in our arts and creative industries work in Hong Kong and Macau
Developing new partnership that extend the impact of our work
Developing and managing a strong relationship with British Council Arts colleagues in the East Asia region and in the UK
Enhancing our reputation for skills and professionalism
Extending our knowledge and influence in Hong Kong and the UK
Building a high performing team
Delivery of an agreed programme of activity
Delivery of agreed targets for income and audience
Ensure finances, risk management and reporting are managed in line with corporate standards on agreed targets for income and audience
The ideal candidate should have:
At least 5 years of experience of working in a creative or management capacity in the arts sector
Experience of building partnerships, generating income and designing / implementing projects with partners
Project Management skills including leading medium-to-large and/or high risk projects
Experience of managing and leading a team
Excellent Communication skills in English and Cantonese
